Ghost Signal Radio has opportunities right now for people across the United States and Canada to attend haunted attractions, Halloween events, festivals, conventions and other experiences as GSR Signal Agents.
HAUNTED ATTRACTIONS NEED US — AND WE NEED YOU.
Venues are asking Ghost Signal Radio if we have correspondents who can attend their media events, experience their attractions and help introduce them to our audience. Many of these opportunities include complimentary or VIP admission — often for more than one representative.
You don't need journalism experience. You don't need professional camera equipment. For many assignments, everything you need is already in your pocket: your phone.
If you're 18 or older, live in the U.S. or Canada, are reliable, curious and think spending an evening touring a haunted attraction, photographing a Halloween festival, interviewing somebody interesting or investigating something strange sounds like a pretty good assignment...
We're looking for you.
WHAT IS A SIGNAL AGENT?
Ghost Signal Radio is a new media project backed by years of experience in the Halloween and haunted-attraction industry.
GSR helps people discover Halloween and seasonal entertainment around them — haunted attractions, festivals, paranormal events, conventions, films and other strange, spooky, creepy and fall-related experiences.
Our Haunt Search includes more than 2,300 venues, and GSR has established media relationships with 300+ venues and organizations across the United States and into Canada.
Those relationships are already producing invitations.
The problem is simple:
We can't physically be everywhere.
Signal Agents can.
Right now, venues are asking Ghost Signal Radio if we have correspondents who can attend.
We're building the network that lets us answer yes.
WHAT WOULD I ACTUALLY DO?
Every assignment is different.
You might tour a haunted attraction and tell us about the experience. Walk a Halloween festival and photograph what you find. Attend a paranormal event. Cover a convention. Conduct an interview. Shoot video. Take photographs. Record observations.
Sometimes there may be special tours, interviews, media events or other access arranged specifically for invited media.
And yes — you're supposed to enjoy yourself.
We're not looking for somebody to walk around with a clipboard pretending to be a television reporter.
We want you to experience the place.
Notice things. Take pictures. Make notes about what you saw, heard and felt. If there's an interview, ask the questions. If there's something our audience ought to see, capture it.
Then bring it back to GSR.
“BUT I'VE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE.”
That's okay.
Experience isn't required.
GSR will provide an assignment brief telling you what we need. That could include particular photographs, information to collect, things to observe, people to speak with or questions we'd like answered.
You aren't being sent somewhere and told, “Go be a journalist.”
We'll give you direction.
You go have the experience.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
For many assignments: a decent smartphone.
Photos. Video. Audio recording. Typed notes. Voice notes. Communication.
That's an entire basic field-reporting kit sitting in your pocket.
If you own better photography, video or audio equipment and know how to use it, great. It isn't required to get started.
WHAT ABOUT ADMISSION?
Media invitations frequently include complimentary or VIP admission.
In our experience, venues often provide passes for multiple representatives because they understand that coverage may involve more than one person.
That means some assignments may allow you to bring somebody with you, or GSR may pair you with another Signal Agent in your area.
But we won't promise something a venue hasn't offered.
Before you accept an assignment, you'll know what access has been arranged, how many passes are available, where you're going, when you're going and what GSR needs from you.
Then you decide whether you can do it.
GSR will communicate with the venue before arranging an Agent visit. You will not simply appear somewhere claiming to represent Ghost Signal Radio.
THIS ISN'T ABOUT COLLECTING FREE TICKETS
The opportunities can be fun. Sometimes really fun.
That's one of the benefits.
But we're looking for people who take the opportunity seriously.
If you accept an assignment, the venue is trusting GSR — and GSR is trusting you.
Show up. Be professional. Do what you agreed to do. Bring something useful back.
That's the deal.
SIGNAL AGENTS FIND SIGNALS, TOO
We don't want Agents who only sit around waiting for us to send them something.
Know about a new haunt opening near you? A Halloween festival we should see? A paranormal convention coming to town? Something strange happening locally that sounds like Ghost Signal Radio territory?
Tell us.
GSR can investigate it, contact the organizers and see whether there's an opportunity.
Some of the best assignments may eventually come from our Agents themselves.
SAW A TRANSMISSION FOR YOUR CITY?
That doesn't mean you're applying for one particular event.
It means we're looking for representation in that area.
And even if you didn't see your city? Apply anyway.
GSR works with venues and organizations throughout the United States and into Canada.
There may be nothing ten miles from you this weekend and an opportunity twenty minutes away next month.
We're building the network now.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
You must be 18 or older and live in the United States or Canada.
Beyond that, we're looking for something more important than a résumé:
Curiosity. Reliability. Observation. Communication. Enthusiasm.
People who think this sounds fun — but will still take an assignment seriously.
People who buy into what Ghost Signal Radio is building.
People who want to help us find what's out there.
YOU CHOOSE YOUR ASSIGNMENTS
Being a Signal Agent doesn't mean surrendering your weekends to GSR.
When we have an appropriate opportunity, we'll give you the details:
Where. When. What you'll be covering. What access is available. What we need from you.
If you can do it, great.
If you can't, you pass.
But if you say yes, we're counting on you.
WE'RE BUILDING THIS NOW
Ghost Signal Radio is new.
The opportunity to help shape what it becomes won't always be.
We already have thousands of attractions in our search system, hundreds of media relationships and invitations arriving from organizations looking for coverage.
There's far more happening than one small media operation could ever physically cover.
So we're building a network.
People in different cities. Different states. Different provinces. Different backgrounds.
All looking for the next signal.
