Illustration for Oddities & Curiosities Expo Brings the Strange to Philadelphia This Weekend

The strange, unusual and beautifully bizarre are headed to the Philadelphia area this weekend.

The Oddities & Curiosities Expo will take over the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16, bringing its touring collection of oddities vendors, dark artists, makers and collectors to the region.

Visitors can expect a marketplace considerably stranger than the average convention floor. The Expo brings together independent artists and small businesses offering everything from taxidermy and preserved specimens to original artwork, antiques, handcrafted oddities, unusual jewelry, bones and skulls, creepy clothing and funeral collectibles.

The event extends beyond shopping, with the Oddities & Curiosities Expo also known for sideshow-style entertainment and educational classes and demonstrations, with individual offerings varying by event.

For Ghost Signal Radio readers, the Philadelphia stop lands squarely at the intersection of several communities we cover: Halloween culture, independent artists and makers, horror-inspired art, collectors and people with an appreciation for things residing somewhat outside the ordinary.

The Philadelphia-area event will be held at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, 100 Station Avenue in Oaks, Pennsylvania, August 15–16.

And if a room full of peculiar antiques, strange artwork, unusual specimens and assorted things that probably shouldn't be staring back at you sounds more interesting than another weekend at the mall, this may be your weekend.

Ghost Signal Radio will continue following the Oddities & Curiosities Expo and the artists, makers and unusual creative communities surrounding it.
