Hotel of Horror returns September 25 for its 2026 season, bringing two distinct haunted experiences back inside the historic Lake House Hotel in Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania.
The present hotel building dates to 1895, while portions of the property's history reach even further back. The building has operated as a haunted attraction since 1992, giving Hotel of Horror an unusual setting: this is not a temporary structure built for Halloween, but a permanent five-floor historic hotel.
Two attractions occupy the property.
Hotel of Horror takes visitors through the original five-floor attraction, moving from the building's basement to its attic through decaying hotel rooms, forgotten spaces and environments built around the character of the old hotel itself.
Altered Nightmares takes a different approach.
The second attraction uses brighter and more surreal environments, psychological disorientation and funhouse influences to create an experience intended to make visitors question what they are seeing as they move deeper into the building.
Both attractions are included with one admission and operate as a connected evening of haunted entertainment under the same roof.
The Lake House Hotel itself remains an important part of the experience.
Rather than disguising the building beneath an entirely artificial setting, Hotel of Horror incorporates the architecture and history of the property into the attraction — including its staircases, rooms, basement and attic.
Hotel of Horror has been frightening visitors in the Pocono Mountains since 1992 and draws guests from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and the surrounding region.
The 2026 season begins Friday, September 25 and runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings through November 1.
