Image credit: Image courtesy of SeaWorld San Antonio.Howl-O-Scream runs Fridays through Sundays from September 11 through November 1, transforming the park for 24 nights with five haunted houses, eight scare zones—known at the event as terror-tories—three Halloween shows and themed bars. The nighttime event is included with regular park admission.
The most recognizable addition is I Know What You Did Last Summer: The Final Catch, a new haunted house based on the original 1997 film.
The attraction places guests inside recreations of scenes connected to the film’s Southport massacre, following a group of friends whose attempt to conceal a deadly accident draws the attention of a hook-wielding killer. SeaWorld describes the production as a first-of-its-kind haunted house created around the horror franchise.
Two original concepts complete the trio of new houses.
Dead Wreckoning takes guests aboard a doomed ship during its final hours. As the voyage collapses into madness and mutiny, visitors must make their way through the vessel while its crew turns against itself.
Witch of the Woods follows the legend of a powerful witch whose magic has taken root deep within the forest. Surrounded by devoted disciples, she draws victims into a domain from which few return.
The three additions join two returning haunted houses: The Swamp at Blackwater Bayou and Dis-Assembly Line.
Fear also extends beyond the houses through eight terror-tories spread across the park. Returning areas include Ripper Row, SINdustry District, Blackwater Bayou, Water’s Edge, Nightmare Midway and Colleen’s Dollhouse.
A new anniversary scare zone, Terror Through Time, draws from the history of Howl-O-Scream San Antonio. The pathway brings back characters from earlier seasons, including Scarlet from Unearthed, Mr. Karver from Karver’s Kradle and Bunny Bradley from Bunny Bradley’s Ice Scream Shoppe.
Till Death Do Us Party also returns as an eerie wedding reception complete with live music and a themed bar for guests 21 and older.
The entertainment lineup includes the new Shamu Rocks: Moonlight Mayhem, a nighttime presentation built around music, lighting and the atmosphere of the ocean after dark.
Returning productions include Monster Stomp, a live music and dance show inspired by Victorian London, and Sirens Song, a pathway performance featuring percussion and dancing in the Water’s Edge terror-tory.
Guests who want to experience the nighttime atmosphere while reducing direct scares can purchase a No Boo Necklace. The illuminated necklaces signal participating pathway performers to avoid intentionally startling the wearer. They do not remove frightening imagery or prevent every possible scare inside the event.
SeaWorld San Antonio will also offer daytime Halloween programming for families during its Spooktacular celebration on select dates. Activities include trick-or-treating, a Spookley the Square Pumpkin hay maze, Ports o’ Skull and appearances by Pinkfong and Baby Shark.
Día de los Muertos programming will return with traditional music, calaveras and altars honoring those who have died. A new presentation called Ritmo de Vida will bring music, Folklórico dancers, beluga whales and Pacific white-sided dolphins to Beluga Stadium.
Howl-O-Scream is intended for mature audiences and includes depictions of violence, blood and gore. Costumes are not permitted during the nighttime event.
